Why do I go to meetings after 5 years? I go to meetings because this gal is a drunk and an addict. I don't go to meetings 7 days a week because it's a social club. I go to meetings because it's in my nature to drink. I don't go to meetings to make friends. I go to meetings because I lived alcoholically for 4 decades. I don't go to meetings because of my political or religious affiliations. I go to meetings to learn what I need to do to stay away from the next drink. I don't go to meetings to learn how to control my drinking. I go to meetings to turn my drinking over to a higher power because I can't control the disease on my own. I don't go to meetings because I'm smart. I go to meetings because I know nothing. I don't go to meetings to learn how to get along with people places and things. I go to meetings because people places and things will lead to the next drink if I'm not careful. Most of all one day at a time when I go to meetings, I can allow God to take care of me when I can't.
