i like that it doesnt matter whether one is religious or not to be able to make a connection in this thing we do. spirituality is somethin ive found that many religious people dont have. some of the people i know in my personal circle of recoverin friends are agnostic or atheist and are some of the most spiritual people ive ever met. i aint tryina say i dont hang with religious people who are in recovery cause i have several friends who are very religious and live a spiritual lifestyle that i could only aspire to. personally, i choose to call a Power greater than myself, my HP or God, and do believe in a christian way of life and religion. i dont attend a weekly service but that doesnt mean i dont try to live my life by many of the teachins i learned as a young un. step two to me is about hope and usin it to form the spiritual principle of faith. i love that when im with my recoverin friends we can share our spirituality with one another without castin judgement upon one another. its been my experience that my HP often times speaks directly to me through others and when i remain open, with a listenin ear, i get to hear Him. when i remain spiritually ambitious i get to help make the world a better place. understandin the difference between ambition and arrogance, helps me to respect all cultures and religions, and affirms the spiritual connections they help people toward. it also helps me to use the connections i have with others to let go of self-will, my spiritual malady. in my recovery i have a choice, i can either make my will one with my HP or i can remain separate and alone, not sharin with others the rallyin point that brings us together as one. when i keep in the company of others, it simply keeps me out of self. my dependence upon things material or of this world is lessened when i break free and move toward sharin my life with others. with my HP, those in or out of recovery, i am less likely to fall prey to my disease of alcoholism and even worse yet, myself, my spiritual malady. 1 day @ a time...
