I’ve been writing for a long time now. I’ve opened myself up to the entire world and what fell out from the deepest parts of myself sometimes surprised even me. There’s no surer way to expose every part of yourself than to be creative. I’ve written about not only my recovery but also the social and emotional issues which came with it. This included domestic violence, mental and emotional ill-health, poverty, isolation and abandonment.

For me, writing and having it published has been the single most empowering pursuit on my recovery path. I always believed that being safe and strong meant hiding my vulnerability from the world. However, the truth for me is very different. Nothing has made me stronger and empowered me more than telling it like it is and letting people see me in my very rawest state. You might say I’ve shared my 5th and 10th steps with the entire world and there’s a whole lot more to reveal both to myself and others. That desire to write has led me to be widely published and to become the Content Creator and Editor here at InTheRooms.com.

There’s a space for you here

So, I just wanted to let you know, that there’s a space for you here at In The Rooms, to share your story also. Perhaps writing about your own journey has been something you’ve always considered doing? Maybe you’re looking for a place to practice your craft and get feedback. Maybe you just want to share your experience, strength and hope on an international scale. Whatever your reason may be to write, I and the rest of the team at In The Rooms are here to support and encourage you.

If you would like to write some blogs for us and want to discuss it further, you can email me at nicky@intherooms.com or blogging@intherooms.com.
