Who Answers?

Detox with Dignity, an affiliate of WISE Medical Centers, LLC, in Alpharetta, GA, discreetly and privately provides help for those dealing with the difficulties associated with pain meds, heroin, Kratom, or other opioids.

Our Specialties

We specialize in assisting patients for whom privacy and discretion are of utmost importance. Addiction is a bad thing. But bad things happen to good people. As a result of bad decisions, and, sometimes through no fault of their own, it becomes the drug in charge of decision making, rather than the addict him or herself. We understand these realities.

We have treated fortune 100 executives, doctors, lawyers and successful businesspeople, as well as the spouses, children and people close to very prominent people. Our policy of privacy and discretion are of utmost importance for these high-profile patients. Our patients value the extra time, attention and expertise that we bring to their encounters.

Treating Pregnant Women

We have a great track record of treating pregnant women who are addicted and wish to be off of all opiates completely and quickly before their baby is born (Initiation of treatment in the first trimester of pregnancy recommended). Babies born to women addicted to heroin or prescription pain meds have serious problems after birth. It is not essential that you expose your newborn baby to methadone. Our unique program, using custom compounded buprenorphine, facilitates tapering off all opiates, while minimizing, and often eliminating, withdrawal symptoms before your baby is born. This approach not only reduces the risks of withdrawal, but also prevents your baby from having to experience neonatal abstinence syndrome.

The conventional practice is to maintain a mother on methadone throughout her pregnancy. We believe that babies do better if the mother is removed from all opiates prior to delivery whenever possible, to avoid the effects on the baby, including the dreaded neonatal abstinence syndrome.

These babies end up in neonatal ICU’s because of withdrawal symptoms in the first few days and often weeks of their lives.

The symptoms these babies experience include:

  • Irritability
  • High-pitched crying
  • Tremors
  • Seizures
  • Poor feeding and appetite
  • Diarrhea and vomiting

Pregnant women using heroin, oxycodone or methadone often alternate high and low doses of the drugs. Fluctuating drug levels can cause constriction of blood flow to the baby and possible miscarriage, preterm birth, or low-birth weight-babies. Our structured approach of rapid tapering reduces this risk. The exact schedule for tapering must be individualized. This protocol works best when closely supervised by a knowledgeable physician who monitors for subtle signs of withdrawal. Because addicts have frequently experienced severe withdrawal in the past, sometimes, in their zeal to get off medication, they will minimize minor signs and symptoms of withdrawal. This can cause errors in tapering that ultimately compromise patient success. Smaller and frequent adjustments in dosage of custom prepared medication under proper supervision facilitates successful tapering off of medication.
