when it came time in my early recovery to learn tradition 7, my sponsor took me through it and explained how i could use it in my personal life; just as he had done with the prior 6 traditions. i recall him askin me what the worth of my sobriety was. he proceeded in expressin i no longer use selfish and self-centered motives to get handouts. he showed me through the inventory i had done with him how i had never truly been fully self-supportin. i used my character defects and shortcomins to manipulate people into givin me the shit i wanted. he said it was time i start bein accountable to myself, earnin the self-respect and integrity the steps and traditions guide me toward the direction of. he suggested i ask for help when i needed it, coz where would i be if i didnt when it came to recovery; it was just that i use honest, healthy, character and not the self-absorbed and egocentric motive i had used back in the days of doin my dirt. livin in accordance with this principle, as best as i can, ive grown courage, confidence, wholesome self-esteem, and integrity, cultivatin and exercisin humility. 1 day @ a time...
