when i think of what makes this thing we do work so well, i think of the 2nd legacy of recovery, unity. and this steps spiritual principle of brotherly love surely shows its use of this specific legacy. when i came into the rooms i did not know if this thing we do would work for me. as i listened and learned, i heard and seen people from all occupations, all age brackets, and all social classes, come together and discuss their specific alcoholism. each would refer to the spirituality of the program, their relationship with their HP, and then the fellowship itself. i understand today if there werent any people who felt like i did when i came in, didnt know how they, themselves, could make this work, and what they did to make it work, idk if i would still be a member. the love for one another was none like id ever seen in any group id been in. freely as they had received, freely they gave without regard to any social class or any other affiliation, other than they were alcoholics, just as i. i still get to feel that love from em and i still get to give that love. we all come together as one in this unique program. 1 day @ a time...
