https://www.sobermomtribe... After having my son, I struggled with severe postpartum depression and anxiety that went undiagnosed. My postpartum experience led my disease of alcoholism to rapidly progress in the first 8 months of my sons life; ultimately leading me to get sober when he was 8.5 months old. Once I began to understand what had happened with me, I made it my mission to let other new parents know that they are not alone in their postpartum struggles. I found a non profit organization; Postpartum Support International, that had a local chapter in MN. I reached out and took an 8 hour training on PMADs (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders). Within that training, I learned that people with a history of addiction and/or a history of mental illness are more likely to develop a PMAD. It has since been my mission to bring awareness to these two communities; the postpartum and recovery community.

After 2.5 years in AA, I knew there was something deeper that needed healing inside of me. God placed someone in my path who showed me the way to ACA... and once there, I knew ACA was the missing piece to my recovery journey. I am the cycle breaker in my family. The generational curses end with me. Because today, it is my sacred work to give my beautiful 4 year old son all the coping skills I never received. To show him how to manage feelings and express emotions in a mature way. My son will know what unconditional love is, and he will have to question his worthiness or who he really is. The road to healing can feel alienating at times, but oh how freeing it truly is! Thank you for being here. May we always remain grateful.
